The Newcombe Story
In fall 2021, Newcombe Design Associates Inc. was acquired by X-Design Inc., a renowned leader in design with nearly 30 years of industry experience. This strategic move grants Newcombe access to valuable resources, including an ISO 9001:2015 International Standard certification and a robust project management team. Together, Newcombe and X-Design, form a powerful and diverse team of over 40 professionals, blending our expertise. Leveraging Newcombe’s three decades of expertise in seniors’ residences and healthcare spaces alongside X-Design’s dynamic work environments, this alignment creates numerous opportunities for collaboration and growth, enhancing both companies’ ability to meet diverse client needs and achieve organizational goals.
We provide comprehensive planning services from the outset, considering both the overarching project scope and the intricate details that fit within the designated space. Our approach ensures a holistic view of the project, aligning all elements for optimal utilization of the space.
We were retained by Montgomery Sisam Architects to work with Kipling Acres, and the City of Toronto on the development of the interior furniture program for the new Phase 1, 192 bed long term care facility and the new Phase 2, 145 bed long term care facility.
We were retained, as part of the FF&E consulting team, by Ellis Don to plan and procure over $7 million of furniture for St. Joseph’s Health Care’s new 89 bed, 235,000 sq. ft. Regional Mental Health facility in St. Thomas and 156 bed, 250,000 sq. ft. Regional Mental Health Facility in London Ontario. We worked closely with the architectural team to ensure the furniture styles and upholstery materials integrated and enhanced the interior architecture.
We worked with Verve, developer DCMS and Global Architects on the development of the complete interior design program for their new Shores of Port Credit Residence which incorporates two eight-storey towers of luxury rentals—a retirement residence and lifestyle seniors apartments. The two towers are connected by a lobby and an atrium with well-appointed amenity spaces.
